Toshiba Portege R500 is the old laptop output of 2007/2008 which has its own class. Portege R500 laptop is already using Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 processor, so until now still can exist can be used to adjust the development of existing standard software.
Because it is quite old, which happens in general for the Portege R500 is optical / CD-DVD drives are damaged.
Optical / CD-DVD drive is damaged feels no problem because it can use external CD / DVD which is currently cheap relative price.

To normalize the performance of this laptop is to unplug the data cable connected to the CD / DVD drive.
• Remove the back / bottom cover of the laptop by opening all the screws / small bolts using a screwdriver + small size, open the battery first.
• There is a flexible cable PCMCIA card attached to the cover / back cover, remove the cable from the socket carefully.
• Notice the image shown by the arrow, it is the data cable socket / terminal to the CD / DVD that should be removed. there are two bolts that must be opened first.
• If it has been removed, close the back cover, and replace all the screws / bolts, and reinstall the battery.
Performance laptop returns to normal.
