Generally, if we buy a new laptop or computer that is branded with Windows OS, local hard drive usually will only have C only.
To have another drive, for example D or E we can divide the partition from drive C to be another local drive as we want.
Just like in Windows 7, to share or add disk partitions in Windows 8 can be done directly without using additional software / applications, which can be done through the Computer Management menu.
From Desktop choose File Explorer , then right click on Computer
Then click Manage.

A Computer Management window will pop up
In the Storage menu select Disk Management
Then select the volume or partition to be shared (in this case C)
Right-click on the C drive partition, then select / click Shrink Volume (decrease the volume).
Will show how big the volume will be in shrink
if you are confused by the number or amount that should be filled in, just leave the existing numbers created by the system. (divide the two systems of the same size)
Click the Shrink button
The shrink process is just a minute, you can then see the C_nya drive has shrunk / decreased the volume size, and you will see there is new space unallocated space.unallocated space is then we will create a new volume.
To create a new volume:
Right click on unallocated space
Select New Simple Volume
Then will appear wizard, we just select Next .. next
Determine what size the volume will be made, or leave it to the maximum size as it is filled, click Next.
Select the drive letter you want, eg drive D, E, etc, click Next
In the next wizard usually only give the name of the volume, left also okay (New Volume) because it can be easily replaced in other occasions.
Give a check on Perform a Quick format , in order to format the process quickly. Click Next
After the process is complete then you will see a new local hard drive in the Computer menu.
